A view of how I manage my work. These are my To-Do lists. On the left is the old one, and on the right the new one. I usually cycle them out for an updated one every month or two. I tape them to my desk at home so that they are always where I will see them.

I am generally working on about eight manuscripts at any one time, so keeping track of what needs to get done when can be difficult. This is the only way I have found to keep on top of it. Right now I am so busy that I have had
to put some of the projects I wanted to start already on hold, until I
have worked off some of the pile. Three of the things on the new list
are already very close to being crossed off, so time might free up again
sometime soon.

Note: I have blurred the names of yet unpublished taxa and things that I cannot disclose at present.

How do you manage yourself when you are multiplexing projects?

Hi! I’m a second-year American college student (undergrad, astro/physics major & computer science minor).

I write everything that needs to get done this week on the whiteboard at the beginning of the week so I can block out my study time (the college names are undergrad research opportunities I’m applying to). 

Everything that needs to get done in more than a week and everything that needs to get done this week go on ranked lists on facing pages in the question mark book. 

Homework (copied down from syllabi at beginning of semester) and appointments and club/Programming Board meetings go in the little free planner I got for attending a women in physics conference in January

I also put appointment and major project reminders into Google Calender, and my phone gives me alerts three days before and day of.

This is somewhat cumbersome, but I haven’t missed anything important yet so go me?
